     The Director's Office is responsible for the department and the organization in terms of authorizing actions; operations and procedures; having a strategic vision, mission, and goals; and providing support to achieve those goals. The Director oversees the department's various functions and focuses on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of services provided by each division and unit.

 

     It is the utmost objective of the director's office and the Department of Human Resources as a whole to sustain and uphold the good reputation of American Samoa Government. By justifying the ASG's reputation, they must apply and follow the merit system principles; code of conduct; and employment values stated herein while implementing operations and responsibilities.

The  Pacific Public Health Fellowship Program (PPHFP) is a two-year professional development program that provides promising career-minded individuals with robust and practical hands-on learning experiences and training for a variety of public health career pathways. 

The PPHFP is a collaborative effort between the USAPI's departments/ministries of health, PIHOA, and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The USAPI's include the US Pacific Island Territories: Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas (CNMI), and American Samoa; and the US Freely Associated States: the Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau. 

 

The application cycle for the next cohort opens on April 15, 2022, and closes on June 30, 2022. Completed applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. This cohort will begin their 2-Year PPHFP Fellowship on August 1,  2022 subject to the availability of funding from the CDC.
